FANTASTIC NEWS From the Cards Section:

Over the weekend of 9th and 10th April 2011, a group of eight Card Section players attended the "National Cribbage Singles Championship" hosted by the Porirua Club.

There were some 150 competitors from throughout NZ and play consisted of 63 games over both Saturday and Sunday. It was a very tight competition with the eventual winner being only one point ahead at the end of play.

Our own Len Gee won the title of national singles champion and received a handsome trophy which was promptly filled with bubbly to celebrate.

Congratulations to Len for an outstanding win. It was a great result for the South Island and Christchurch players in particular, the top results being:

The event is held annually, alternating between north and south island host clubs. Next years event will be at Woolston where Len will defend his title.
