Melbourne Cup 2011: Page 1 - Page 2 Riccarton Club members had a thoroughly enjoyable time celebrating the Melbourne Cup at the Club on the 1st November. Wow what a close finish that was. Only a whisker in it. The ladies were seen enjoying strawberries and champagne and delicate devonshire teas while the men took to the roast beef sandwiches with great gusto. There were many fashionably turned out ladies who entered the best dressed competition. This was won by Diana McBeath who looked very elegant in her lovely midnight blue dress. The best hat was won by Dianne Chappell and the best dressed man who was a standout in his very smartly coordinated outfit, was won by Bob McBeath. A family double there with the winners. Not sure if they had a bet on their chances of winning or not. The raffles were snapped up and the drinks specials went down a treat, a fun afternoon was had by all. |
